As a Black British man of 南非n descent, I sometimes feel a desire to share my views on race 和 identity. 在我们所知的当今世界, there has been an abundance of race-related discussions 和 protests across the globe incited by the George Floyd incident in America 和 some of the social inequalities 和 mental health challenges that exist in our society today.

I truly believe each 和 every Black British resident can feel a sense of belonging 和 prosper in modern Britain. This is clear when you appreciate some of the success stories you see in the Civil Service, 媒体, 艺术, 公共服务和多元全球体育.

This is the story I wish to share with my fellow BAME Britons today which is centred on three key points to help us excel within Britain.

Our nation has come a long way in its fight in tackling racism 和 creating equal opportunities for all. 公平地说，我们还有很长的路要走, but it’s also equally important we celebrate success stories of British people of colour 和 the contributions they have given to our nation. 作为公务员, I am grateful 和 fully committed to serving my country 和 citizens to the best of my ability, especially through the amazing work that we do at DWP Digital.

各种形式的教育, whether it be achieved via apprenticeships or higher education, can be the bedrock of success for many Black Britons. What’s really interesting is that the vast majority of Black Britons tend to prefer higher education over apprenticeships which I feel are a great alternate route for many to explore. I’m extremely proud to see the hard work my colleagues in the Talent Development team at DWP Digital have placed in promoting 实习的机会 对于那些想要学习新技能的人.
A modern Britain will require people of different skills 和 qualifications as we “build back better” once we overcome the current coronavirus p和emic. I believe the value of education is a vital component to our long-term success

Britain is a great nation for any entrepreneur to create a business 和 prosper 和 our nation has thous和s of successful businessmen 和 women of all race 和 creed across multiple industries 和 sectors. The tech industry in particular is thriving with the digital tech boom creating hundreds of jobs, with us being able to actively hire into technical roles, 如 data 和 工程.
To conclude, being Black in Britain does have its challenges, but they can be overcome. We as a nation have come a long way 和 anything is possible. Britain is a nation of opportunity; I say seize the moment 和 go for it!
